(More customer reviews)I have been through so many mediocre non-stick pans/skillets in my life that I was afraid to have my hopes high about this one. But this pan appears PERFECT in every regard -- an example of great German engineering. This baby is NOT made in China.Everything about it says it's built to last and make your life easier.
1) It is very well-made -- extremely sturdy, but the weight is just right, not too heavy, not too light. The handle is comfortable and thicker than most pans, and the angle is just right, so you can have a good grip on it.Also, the big plus is that there are no rivets (bolts holding the handle) on the inside of the rim, making cleaning a breeze.The rim is higher than most pans, and that creates more room if you want to use it for bulky/puffy dishes like risotto or jambalaya.
2) The non-stick surface amazed me when I used it for the first-time today. In my old non-stick pan, I cannot make an omlet without ruining it (because things stick).In this one, my omlet (which I poured over just a little bit of oil) was actually sliding when I tilted the pan towards the end of cooking.I could not believe it -- my food just glided out of the pan; there was no sticking at all. (And because of that, the pan washed so easily that I actually did it with my bare hand under a stream of warm water; didn't even need a sponge. The water then beaded on the surface with tiny droplets, like rain on a well-waxed car; then it dried on its own in just a few minutes.)
3) This pan is really good-looking (that matters to me). I love it that it has powdery/matte graphite-black exterior (the same color as the inside).This means that I will never have to scrub burned, baked-on stains on the outside (or the edge) from food/oil that may occasionally overflow (and the high rim makes it much less likely anyway).The surface of the exterior appears non-stick too, and because it's dark I can see that it will never show any discoloration/stains (while my old light steel-colored pan has brownish stains that I cannot get rid of). The top of the handle has pretty bright chrome color (nice contrast with the dark color of the pan).The underside of the pan has a very unique looking, shiny, silver-colored surface. It seems to me that it's something that improves heat distribution.
