This pan is indestructible. Frying chicken, sauteeing mushrooms, cooking almost anything in this pan is a joy. It heats evenly and maintains the temp. It is heavy and a lot of women don't like cast iron for that reason. With the helper handle it is much easier. Just make sure you re-oil it after every use, and don't use harsh detergents on it. This is my favorite pan.

Just like that heirloom pan you will find that even pineapple upside down cake doesn't stick to this surface. A large skillet, such as this one, is ideal for frying chicken or catfish or for baking a pie.
