I bought this pan for my husband, who loves making quesadillas on our stove, but was sad when our new smooth-top electric range said not to use regular cast iron pans on it. He tried using a Calphalon pan, but said nothing compared to cast iron. So I went looking for an enameled cast iron pan with low sides that would work for quesadillas, and I surprised him with this. He LOVES it. We've never made a hoecake, but for quesadillas, it is terrific!

Product Description:
Become a pro at making one of Paula Deen's signature dishes--the traditional Souther hoecake--with this stylishly colorful cast iron pan in burgundy, which features a nonstick porcelain enamel coating. Measuring 11 inches in diameter, it has a shallow interior surrounded by raised edges, perfect for making these corn bread griddle cakes. The sides are also accented with raised curves for a kick of Southern style. The skillet's cast iron core guarantees even heat distribution and is great for slowly cooking hoecakes so they won't burn. The oversized, ergonomically curved handle can be confidently gripped even when using pot holders or oven mitts, and it also features a loop built into the handle for hanging. This pan is broiler safe, and it should be hand washed. It's backed by a 1-year manufacturer's warranty.
Paula Deen got her start with a lunchtime catering business in Savannah, Georgia called The Bag Lady before opening her successful restaurant, The Lady & Sons. And now she spreads her distinctive and authentic Southern delicacies--from real Southern fried chicken and hoecakes to Krispy Kreme bread pudding--via the Food Network and several best-selling cookbooks.
