I bought this wok despite the reviews. There was a blemish in the interior wok, that appeared like a crack but didn't go all the way through. I imagine that there was not enough metal in the mold when it was cast and then most of that flaw was ground out as a normal step in finishing the wok. I can see how such a blemish, if more severe could result in a crack. I am hoping that the blemish will not get worse with use. I have heard that some of these new light weight cast iron woks can crack if cold water is added to a hot wok in cleaning. It certainly seems stronger than the tradition thin round bottomed cast iron wok I own.
