Anolon Advanced Bronze 11-Inch, 5-Quart Covered Sauteuse with Glass Lid Review

Anolon Advanced Bronze 11 inch, 5-Quart Covered Sauteuse with Glass Lid

We love this pot! It turns out we use it far more often than we expected, because it holds a lot, has straight sides so a good flat area on the bottom, and yet isn't too big or too heavy to be a good everyday choice. Not to mention it is quite good looking. The lid is heavy and fits well, the handles are sturdy, and the base is nice and thick.

The one thing I would say is, silicone coated handles are a really nice feature and this pot doesn't have them. But, that being said, we still love the pot.

We bought this set a few months ago and we really really enjoy them. The handles have a really good grip on them and also seem like they will never come apart. You know how some cookware just seems like the handles will come off one day? These aren't like that. They feel indestructible. The color is definitely the one of the best parts. They are more reddish than just pain brown. in Fact, when it says bronze, it's pretty close! They have a real nice pearl to them.I highly recommend them!

Anolon Advanced Bronze 12-Inch Open Round Griddle Review

Anolon Advanced Bronze 12 inch Open Round Griddle
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This review is for the 12" ANOLON ADVANCED BRONZE GRIDDLE PAN (without grill marks). I own several other Anolon Bronze pans and have used them over 5 months. The color is very appealing, although I find the "bronze" to be more akin to dark tan.

This pan looked perfect for my needs; a large, flat pan that utilizes all 12" of the non-stick surface. I purchased two of them to serve my direct purpose - cooking large batches of pancakes and fritters.

This ANOLON ADVANCED BRONZE pan is medium-heavy weight, with a comfortable soft grip, cool touch, riveted handle. The cooking surface is deep brown-black in color and is non-stick. The exterior color is not very visible on this pan due to the low, 1/2" height profile, and although listed as Anolon BRONZE, only the handle is colored; the sides and bottom of the pan are a uniform dark gray.

PROS:
*Can utilize all 12" of pan surface, thus increasing "production".
*These pans clean up very easily, with the exception of one pan that has residual grease adhering to the exterior (eldest son used it - not sure if the cooking temperature was too high).
*Eye appealing; bronze color is nice, but only visible on handle.
*Comfortable easy grip, cool touch handle.
*Bought it on sale for $50 from another vendor.

CONS:
*Manufacturer recommends only medium temps (not high) be used for cooking.
*Due the weight of the handle, the pan does not sit flat on electric stove burner, subsequently, any shortening/butter/oil used during cooking "pools" at side closest to handle. This results in uneven frying of foods. I resort to tedious tilting of the pan during cooking to assure shortening reaches all of the food.
*Difficulty regulating cooking temperature during initial use. (Note: I pre-warm my pans on LOW for several minutes to evenly disperse heat, then adjust to medium to frying.) On medium heat, the pan seems either too cool to fry crisply, or too hot, causing burned edges of fritters/pancakes. (This could, in part be due to the uneven dispersion of shortening in pan, or simply my need for an extended product "adjustment/acclimation" period.)
*Cooking surface shows minor scratches with consistent use of silicone spatula and only rare use of nylon or metal (an expected finding since non-stick pans are not impervious).

All in all, I DO LIKE these griddle pans - with one MAJOR caveat - the heavy handle "tilt", causing shortening to "pool" at one side. At a price point of $50-$80 per pan, I wouldn't expect such a design flaw. However, if you cook solely without use of shortenings, then this pan may be the perfect one for you.

If BUDGET CONSCIOUS, you may want to consider the ANOLON ADVANCED black griddle pan Anolon Advanced 12-Inch Open Round Griddle; cost $25-50 with the difference being the color of the handle and perhaps a basic black colored non-stick interior.

I bought this pan to replace another Anolon Advanced pan we'd had for 5years.After that many years of almost daily use, the old pan was letting food stick. Our old pan wasn't curved at the bottom - more flat with straight sides - but I remember it cost well over $100 even back then as it's also a large 5-quart.The helper handle is very useful.$50 is dirt cheap for a pan of this quality. When this one dies I'm sure we'll get another one just like it.

Anolon Advanced Bronze 10-Piece Cookware Set Review

Anolon Advanced Bronze 10-Piece Cookware Set

(More customer reviews)
We purchased these Anolon Advanced Bronze with our UAirlines miles. This is a heavy-duty set of cookware, but absolutely BEAUTIFUL on the stove. If you have a smaller family (4 people or less), you may do better purchasing the individual pieces on sale. The 8 Quart stockpot is HUGE.We have an older stove/microwave combination and it was too tall to put on the back burners (they have a 4.5 qt stockpot which we ended up purchasing). We also ordered the 1 and 3 qt saucepans as the 10 piece set has the larger 1 1/2 quart and 3 quart saucepans. After using the 1 1/2 and 3 qt we realized that the smaller sizes would better fit our needs.BUT, our two boys are under 10, and so our needs will probably be changing as they get older :)

I was a little worried about not being able to put them in the dishwasher, but they clean so easily, that I don't mind washing them by hand - takes just a minute. We debated whether to purchase these or the Anolon Chef-Clad (stainless), but I am not a gourmet cook and am used to using nonstick cookware. In retrospect, I am glad that we got these, as I don't think-when the cookware gets older-that any imperfections will show as much as on stainless.

In all, this is an awesome set - but make sure you get them on sale - even the manufacturer runs them on sale on their website :)

Winware Commercial Grade Aluminum Non-Stick Fry Pans Review

Winware Commercial Grade Aluminum Non-Stick Fry Pans
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
{Product: Winco Winware Aluminum Non-Stick Saute Pans}

The key ingredients for a viable restaurant-grade non-stick saute pan are as follows:

* Sturdy pan that can be banged around without warping/denting too easily.
* Even heat distribution.
* Silicone sleeve for handle, for easy transfer between stovetop and oven.
* Reasonably durable non-stick coating.
* Inexpensive to replace when worn out (which usually mandates aluminum rather than stainless)

By these 4 criteria, the few winware pans I've handled are servicable.

My chief nits with this line are as follows:

1) They're made in China, rather than the USA.Granted that this is a bit of a sweeping generalization, but from my experience American made products are often a bit higher in quality than their Chinese counterparts. For the same price range, I'd rather buy Eagleware (American), over Winco/Winware (Chinese).

2) In order to keep costs down, this line is all aluminum ... which renders the pans useless for induction cooking. Then again, that's true of a lot of pans in this price range, and most restaurants don't use induction, so it's a non-factor ... except for well to do home cooks.Ya get what ya pay for in non-stick pans.

3) On a specific pan-size note, I have a nit with the 8" pan.The chief purpose of an 8" NS all aluminum pan is making individual omlets, and (without going into too much detail about why) that's about it.Unfortunately, this particular pan is less than ideal for omlets, because the sides have too shallow a slope ... the 8" pan has the same slope as the 14" pan, so losing a full 2" of diameter only leaves the interior diameter of the bottom a somewhat meager 6", which is a bit tight for a classic omlet.

Bottom line - this is a serviceable, if unspectacular, inexpensive line of NS Aluminum saute pans. And yes, they are commercial grade ... which isn't really saying much if you're familar with such.In true restaurant fashion, they're meant to be beaten on, and replaced regularly when worn out.

All-Clad Stainless-Steel Nonstick Fry Pans Review

All-Clad Stainless-Steel Nonstick Fry Pans
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've heard some complain that their nonstick surface did not last as long as they would have liked, or that it actually became sticky. Those reading should know that you should only use a nonstick pan for cooking things that require it, like; omlettes, eggs, pancakes, etc. For sautes and normal cooking, you should have another regular (i.e. not a nonstick type) pan. This will ensure that your nonstick pan will last a very long time because you will not be prematurely wearing it down by using it for cooking it was not made for. Sautes cook much better on a regular pan anyway. You should only use plastic or wood utensils on it, never metal. Also, nonstick pans are NOT dishwasher safe! Dishwashers will damage the nonstick surface! Wash your nonstick with a soft sponge and soapy water only.
All Clad is probably the best cookware around. This is due to the layered metal design (and the lifetime warranty). It has stainless steel layers with aluminium in between. This works to evenly distribute the heat (even if you have a nasty electric element stove!) because aluminium is a great heat conductor. Also, this pan has the layers on the sides as well so the heat distribution is quite even.
That said, my feeling is that this pan is too expensive. It's very well made and works well, however for non stick pans, you will see very similar performace in the much cheaper Emerilware nonstick (also made by All Clad). The difference is that the Emerilware nonstick pan does not use any stainless steel. Instead, it uses anodized aluminium. Aluminium is a great heat conductor so this pan will perform just as well, for a much cheaper price. The outside finish may not look as good for as long as a stainless steel finish though so if you care about looks and don't mind spending the money, this All Clad is tops.
The Emerilware one still has the lifetime warranty and is of the exact same dimensions as the All Clad branded one. And I like the handle on the Emerilware even better than the handle on the All Clad.
With this All Clad, you are paying more for the layered stainless steel and aluminium, which require more labor to produce as well as more metel and materials.
Of course the choice is yours. If you want the best and don't mind spending the extra money, this All Clad is tops. If however you want nearly identical performance at a cheaper cost and the same lifetime warranty, the less expensive Emerilware pan would be a better match. I don't think you can go wrong either way!

Frying, browning, sauteing? If you tend to use your fry pan a lot, as most people do, doesn't it make sense to purchase one that will give you years of excellent service? All-Clad's three-ply stainless steel construction with a non-stick interior will allow you to cook with minimal fat and even heat distribution. Use this large pan to cook for a hungry crowd.

Anolon Advanced 12-Inch Open French Skillet Review

Anolon Advanced 12 inch Open French Skillet
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I don't like non-stick.It's not as versatile as good 3-ply stainless steel and it doesn't last anywhere near as long. That said, I do like egg dishes and in the summer I like dishes w/ a lighter mouth-feel (not as much oil). So I set out for the best non-stick pan.

I got a 12-inch pan because I've had 10 inch and 8 inch pans in the past and they get crowded very easily. Secondly, I wanted a pan w/ a riveted handle and a decent high temp oven performance. Also, I believe the true mark of a nonstick pan is the 'flip' performance-- so, NO HELPER HANDLE IS THE WAY TO GO! That's just my opinion. I eventually narrowed by search to 3 brands: Caphalon, All Clad, and Analon.Caphalon because they had some interesting non-stick options, All Clad because it's just the best, and Analon because I currently use their stainless set and for the last 2 years I've been very happy.

So All Clad was knocked out of contention quickly for the simple reason that ALL NON-STICK PANS DEGRADE over time. And from what I've read, their best non-stick pan will loose it's luster in about 2 years. That's not to say that I think the pan would be completely crap after 2 years-- just that i think the degradation curve would start to accelerate into the replacement zone. So why pay $130-190 for a pan over two years when you could use 2 average non-stick pans at the same price over two years and have more 'quality' non-stick time to boot?

With All Clad out of the way I turned my attention to Caphalon. I still didn't want a 'cheap' pan though... just not ridiculously over-priced one (although I would love to replace my analon ss set w/ an all-clad one in about 5 more years-- saving those pennies...).Caphalon has 'professional', 'commercial', 'contemporary', and 'one' series pans. Professional pan reviews peg it as a loser. 'One' series pans are just a bad idea all around... why would anyone want a pan that's permanently sorta-non-stick-but-not-really? 'Contemporary' pissed me off (yes I was actually offended) with it's strange 'bulge flare' near the rim-- you really have to see it to understand what I'm talking about. So I considered the commercial series.

Anolon was my last consideration. I looked at their titanium series in the past, but ultimately went with the SS set (glad I did). I was very concerned about the silicon handles. Mainly because it's a limiter to broiling temps, but I gotta say I've been pleasantly surprised. They do add a very good handling feel to the cookware and the silicon hasn't discoloured or peeled or scraped off anywhere.I totally expected the silicon to wear out and it hasn't.Also, their metal ply is just as even and weighted as the all clad stuff.Same thickness, very similar shape, and from the durability I've experienced I'd be surprised if all-clad is really all that much better... but from the looks of it I would have to comment on that about 7 years into ownership. So I was definitely going to consider Anolon.

Went to the store, felt the surface of the commercial caphalon and it was ROUGH. I know it's commercial and they say you can use metal utensils, but something is just counter-intuitive about a 'rough' non-stick surface. It was priced at $50. Then I checked the Anolon Advanced pan. Nice and smooth. Also it had the same handle as my Anolon SS set and the capholon had one of those slightly loose, thick silicon handle... uhhh... condoms. Also the packaging on the commercial pan is sparse-- consisting of a strip of cardboard w/ logo and writing and the sides of the pan exposed to the elements. When they ship them they're stacked on top of each other and the Anodized aluminum bottom from one pan constantly rubs the top rim of the pan below.I couldn't find a single pan out of the 8 on the racks, that didn't have scuffing around the rim from distributor shipping.Needless to say the Caphalon Commercial pan was OUT and the individually completely boxed, wrapped in plastic, suspended in a cardboard brace Anolon Advance pan won the day.

I was very curios about this Dupont Autograph 2 thing. Aparently the Non-stick is on the inside of the pan and seamlessly wraps over the edge and all the way down the outside until the very bottom of the pan where the Anodized Aluminum bottom makes contact w/ the burner. I don't know if it actually does anything functional, but it's VERY easy to clean. I guess maybe it keeps food from 'catching' around the rim when stirring vigorously or 'flipping' veggies in a sauté. So far the non-stick surface is PERFECT.About 20 seconds of soap, sponge, and hot water is all that is need to clean inside and out (thank you to the wrap-around nonstick surface). It has a very good weight so the heat distribution is great even around the sides.I've become accustomed to 'flipping' with my stainless pans so when I first tried it with this pan I accidentally sky-rocketed the veggies into the ventilation hood.As with temperature and handling with all new pans, it's good to keep in mind 'baby-steps'.

I was so pleased to find this item.Comparable items from the private "Pampered Chef" Executive line are twice as expensive. It turns out that the Anolon Advanced appears to be an exact match to their pieces. The quality far exceeds the typical Wal-Mart, Target, Penney's offerings. The thickness of the anondized construction as well as the fabulous "Dupont Autograph 2" coating makes these pieces perfect for family life.Having that coating on the outside really insures the beauty of the pieces is maintained over time. The Hard anondized construction is great but if you had anything spatter on it (like olive oil), you would always see that after it was washed and dried. With Anonlon Advanced - you get the best of both worlds! The skillet it super huge - so no worries about capicity.

Average Reviews:

I have several Anolon Advanced pans and skillets and like them all very much. There is nothing 'wrong' with this set, but the pans are NOT as heavy as some of the other pans. I was initially disappointed by that since I really like the hefty feel of my other Anolon Advanced pans. That's why I'm giving it a "Almost Great" rating.I will say that the pans do seem to work just as well as the others I have. And the quality seems just as good. I DO wish, however, that it had been noted in the product write up that these pans are not the same thickness/weight as the others. So, if you are picky about things like that as I am, then this is your warning. If you don't care about weight or thickness, then I'd say you will love these pans. Again, the quality is there, the nonstick works great, and they are wonderful to work with. For those new to Anolon Advanced, be warned that you absolutely can NOT use high temps on any of the pans. Preheat your pans to a medium setting first and you'll have the best results. These pans DO hold temperature really well and will get very hot, even on a medium setting.Enjoy!

I found this little Analon quite by accident, and now use it virtually every day for sauces, for single omelettes, and for anything that doesn't require a lot of volume/space. Non-stick works just as advertised, so you can't go wrong. I now own 3 of them, and they get used all the time.
