(More customer reviews)This seems to be a great unit. So far it cleans well without chipping, which was my biggest concern when ordering. One small problem is that there is a space between the cooking unit and the base unit which allows food to spill through.
The biggest concern I have to pass on is that this unit is really BIG. The description mentions that the cooking surface is 13.7", but does not mention that the base unit is 18.5" wide, so make sure you have a space to store it. I had to store mine in my oven.

(More customer reviews)I purchased this book to go with the Presto Electric Skillet that I purchased at the same time.The book has some good recipies and definitely shows some of the fancier things that you can prepare with an electric skillet.The problem that I have is that I purchased the skillet and cookbook for my 11-year-old because she wanted to expand her cooking abilities beyond microwave meals and toast.Unfortunately, there are not many recipies in the book that appeal to an 11-year-old.I think it would be better if it included some more very basic meat and potatoes recipies that are more her speed.

The book does have some nice pictures but only has pictures for about a third of the recipies in the book.

(More customer reviews)I just purchased this skillet, and for the price, I am very pleased.I haven't used an electric skillet for years, mainly because they weren't durable.This one is attractive, heats quickly, and is easy to clean.I'm enjoying cooking with it - from simple chicken dishes to meatballs with sauce.The only disappointment, there are no recipes included with the unit, just a flyer describing a cookbook available for purchase (discounted, of course).All in all, I feel this was a good buy.

Non-stick surface is really non-stick. Immersible. The dial is a little awkward, but I am still happy with my selection over other options. I use it for everything, rinse it and put it back on the counter for the next meal.

The thick, heavy metal makes this skillet appear substantial, and that's a plus.The fact that the skillet can be completely immersed for washing is another good point, and she likes the quality of the non-stick surface.But...

The electrical connector is very hard to plug and unplug from the skillet.It's definitely a two-hand operation to unplug, and that can be problematic or even dangerous when the skillet contains hot cooking oil.Also, the temperature control seems to be either off or on, but not really adjustable.In addition, the lid does not fit securely on the skillet.It is too easy to just bump the lid and make it slide off the skillet.

Bottom line:Some good points, some bad.The skillet fries well, but has some fairly serious convenience issues.

(More customer reviews)I received this as a gift to replace my well used West Bend skillet, which kept me going for about 6 years.What had drawn me to the Oster was that it had a tempered glass lid that you could remove or leave hinged and ready to cover your item when needed.

So far I have made pancakes and scrambled eggs in my new skillet and I love it!The non-stick coating allowed items to come off the pan easily and it was a breeze to clean.I also love the glass lid, so I can see the food without having to lift the lid.On the warm setting I was able to keep the eggs ready to eat and warm when breakfast was slightly delayed.There are no vent holes, but this was not a huge deal to me.

If you would like a good, all-around electric skilletthis one is a good price of good quality.

I would definitely recommend.

I own this skillet in a vacation house. Now I will buy it at Amazon for much less than I paid for the first one. This skillet is the best I have ever seen or used. It is heavy, cooks well (you do have to get used to the heat levels), cleans like a dream, goes through the dishwasher perfectly.

(More customer reviews)I purchased this electric skillet when my old trusty electric skillet died.What a mistake!The product is raised in the center, and as a result, any liquid, such as pancake batter or eggs, run to the sides.My biggest complaint is that EVERYTHING sticks to the pan.No amount of oil or butter can stop virtually all foods from sticking.I was initially attracted to this product because it has a removable pan. However, it does not heat evenly.I suspect this is because the pan just sits on top of electric coils, and the heat is not distributed evenly.I do not recommend this product!

(More customer reviews)I'm very satisfied with my purchase.I wanted a stylish electric skillet.I did not want one with a non-stick coating, as those tend to flake off over time.I wanted something that had enough eye-appeal to use on a buffet table or to carry to potlucks. Typically, I use this skillet for lightly fried Italian dishes like scallopini, breaded zucchini, and chicken piccata.Having a temperature dial is useful when making these dishes as you can easily keep the oil at proper temperature to crisp the food without getting it soggy.This skillet does tasks that my deep fryer and crock pot do not do well.Basically, a deep fryer is too large for scallopini, and a crock pot is too deep for certain buffet presentations.Recently, I took it to a pot luck and used it to serve Buffalo wings.The instructions indicated that the pan needs to be "seasoned" before first use to avoid sticking. I did have some complications in seasoning the pan.When I called customer service, they said the easiest way to season the pan is to cook bacon in it.Any excuse to eat bacon is usually a good one.I did manage to properly season my pan and I do not have problems with sticking.The glass lid is nice.It has a tiny hole in it to allow steam to escape.

We are big fans and users of electric frying pans, these things are great, and this one is certainly bigger and perhaps better than the many others we have used to death, BUT there is this one flaw and it is hard to get over.

The vent hole in the glass top is too small. Water vapor stuffs up in this little hole and the lid starts to sputter all around the edge and all over the counter top. Cooking too fast? Well no. The temp control shuts on and off as most of them do, and so when it's in the on mode the pan gets a rush of heat and the top then sputters all over the place.

We have had the pan for about eight months, so perhaps cuisinart has corrected this problem.

(More customer reviews)I was a little nervous when I bought this skillet, since at the time there were no product reviews on it, but I was desperate, and since I had had good luck with other Cuisinart products, I took the chance.Am I glad I did!We were just beginning a major kitchen remodel, which meant that for at least two months I would have to improvise cooking facilities for 5 adults and a grandchild.This skillet has been a real workhorse for me, and a genuine lifesaver (and budget-saver) during the remodel.Its cost was no more than 2 dinners for my family at a moderate-cost restaurant, and I saved that much the first week by cooking those dinners at home in this skillet instead.Its large capacity makes it extremely versatile.I've used it to fry chicken, make one-pan dinners, cook bacon and eggs, frozen blintzes, pot roast, stir-fry meals, you name it. It makes a beautiful risotto, and I've even used it to cook corn on the cob and boil potatoes.Everything came out exactly as I'd hoped, or better. I am especially happy with the Cuisinart's solid, sturdy base that won't let the skillet tip over and endanger the cook (or the curious grandchild).I also love the sturdy nonstick surface, which after two months of frequent use is still like new, in contrast to some nonstick pans I've had where the coating scratches or wore off so quickly that by the 3rd or 4th use the food had to be chipped out.The temperature control responds very quickly, too. You can certainly buy a cheaper electric skillet, but if you use it frequently, a cheap pan will be trash in a short time and you may not be happy with the way it performs in that short lifetime.This Cuisinart is worth every penny, and I expect to be using mine for a long, long time.

(More customer reviews)This is our second Oster 12 inch Glass Lid Electric Skillet 3001.The first one still works beautifully and we love it so much that we are ordering another.We use it for practically everything you can imagine cooking in a skillet.We poach salmon, fry bacon, make potroast etc. etc. etc. We love the tip feature it is great for basting eggs, the glass lid so you can keep an eye on things, the even cooking throughout the pan, the max temperature gives you searing capability, you can wipe the pan clean between cooking individual items (for example, cook your bacon, remove, cook your potatotes, remove and wipe the pan with a paper towel then cook your eggs), you can also cook burritoes to a golden brown by (thawing them and cooking them 15 mins on each side on high simmer) and both the simmer and warm are exactly what you get, all of this in one pan and for our family we will have 2 of these fabulous skillets. (More customer reviews)I have owned this for about two weeks and have used it almost everyday.Not only can you use it as you would any other skillet -- I have used it to make baked potatoes; "baked" frozen entrees, and have found recipes for cakes, coffee cakes and even pizza.Can't wait to try all these new ideas.The kitchen doesn't get heated up in the summer, thus keeping the air conditioning from working hard.Some things take a little experimenting, but it all seems to work out in the end.Frozen products need to be watched the first time to make sure they are totally cooked.My only suggestion to West Bend would be to offer a grid to fit in the skillet.Great product -- great price!!
