(More customer reviews)I purchased this book to go with the Presto Electric Skillet that I purchased at the same time.The book has some good recipies and definitely shows some of the fancier things that you can prepare with an electric skillet.The problem that I have is that I purchased the skillet and cookbook for my 11-year-old because she wanted to expand her cooking abilities beyond microwave meals and toast.Unfortunately, there are not many recipies in the book that appeal to an 11-year-old.I think it would be better if it included some more very basic meat and potatoes recipies that are more her speed.

The book does have some nice pictures but only has pictures for about a third of the recipies in the book.

(More customer reviews)I just purchased this skillet, and for the price, I am very pleased.I haven't used an electric skillet for years, mainly because they weren't durable.This one is attractive, heats quickly, and is easy to clean.I'm enjoying cooking with it - from simple chicken dishes to meatballs with sauce.The only disappointment, there are no recipes included with the unit, just a flyer describing a cookbook available for purchase (discounted, of course).All in all, I feel this was a good buy.

(More customer reviews)I received this as a gift to replace my well used West Bend skillet, which kept me going for about 6 years.What had drawn me to the Oster was that it had a tempered glass lid that you could remove or leave hinged and ready to cover your item when needed.

So far I have made pancakes and scrambled eggs in my new skillet and I love it!The non-stick coating allowed items to come off the pan easily and it was a breeze to clean.I also love the glass lid, so I can see the food without having to lift the lid.On the warm setting I was able to keep the eggs ready to eat and warm when breakfast was slightly delayed.There are no vent holes, but this was not a huge deal to me.

If you would like a good, all-around electric skilletthis one is a good price of good quality.

I would definitely recommend.

(More customer reviews)Well, let's just say I was a more than a little underwhelmed by the Proctor Silex Electric Skillet. Why? For one, the lid was bent out of shape -- so much so that it wouldn't fit on the skillet. Granted, I wasn't expecting too much, as it is bargain priced, but at the same time...jeeze, you want the basics. A lid that's not made of very pliable aluminum would be one of those basic items. Secondly, it's not at all sturdy. Not that I'm planning on dropping it on the floor, but accidents do happen. One fall from the counter, and this thing will be done for.

Other than that, the skillet warms up nicely and is ideal for basic cooking. We tend to use it for pancakes, so the lid really isn't too much of a n issue there.

Would I get it again? No, probably not. I'd go with something a little more sturdy, a little more high-end, and a name brand. You do indeed get what you pay for.

Presto 06620 11-Inch Electric Skillet Review

(More customer reviews)I've been using this pan on a daily basis for about two weeks now and I can say it has met all my demands of it. Eggs and bacon are cooked to perfection without burning either. It heats up quickly, and low temperature works for most foods. I like the fact that the heat is contained in the pan and doesn't heat up the room like gas or electric stove top burners do. The lid is deep enough to allow you to cook a small chicken or roast. The last test I wanted to do was fry pancakes as one reviewer said it wouldn't get hot enough to do it. Well, I was amazed at how well it did fry pancakes. Using thin batter was better than thick, but it fried either one to a golden brown. As far as I'm concerned this is a top quality product and will do anything you require of it. The temperature control is in degrees instead of warm medium and high as some of the others I've looked at. That feature came in handy with the pancakes as the instructions were to preheat to 375 degrees. Well, that's what I did and it was perfect. Cleanup is a breeze because of the non-stick surface, and the entire pan can be immersed in water with no harm or danger. I can't imagine what else I would want it to do. I would highly recommend this product and will buy it again if it fails after a reasonable amount of time.

Update, October 2008. After two months of non stop use, some of the non-stick surface is starting to bubble. Read the warnings carefully, it tells you to not let it soak in water. I didn't let it soak, but I let food stand in it sometimes overnight. I've stopped doing that, and there is no more deterioration of the surface. I will still rate it highly, and be more careful in the future. I guess I just didn't think a non-stick surface could be harmed by food sitting on it over night.Live and learn I guess.

Update. December 2008. Well last week I scraped off the rest of the "non-stick" coating. I was worried that if I didn't I would be eating it. It started coming off in large pieces a few weeks ago. So, the coating is not very good. I have several non-stick pans and pots that are many years old but still have the non-stick surface intact. Still, the electric skillet works good, but you have to use oil or spray when cooking or it will stick to the pan. Beware, the non-stick stuff they use is NOT what you are used to seeing in a pan. Still use it almost daily though:)

Presto 06850 16-inch Electric Skillet Review

(More customer reviews)This is our second skillet like this. The first lasted for years before the finish started coming off of the interior so we decided to buy another just like it. The skillet cooks evenly and the heat is easy to control. We purchased through Amazon and J&R Music was the retailer who actually got the order. J&R ships items in the original manufacturers box wrapped only in plastic for protection. The first unit was damaged during shipment and that is when the nightmare began. It was supposed to have been a Christmas gift for my wife and I made that clear when I reported the damage back in early December. They drug their feet making promises of second day delivery and better packaging on the replacement. Bottom line we didn't receive the replacement until December 29th. It wasn't shipped second day as promised, it didn't make it in time for Christmas as promised and once again the box arrived damaged because they only wrapped it in plastic again. Buy the skillet but avoid J&R. Those people just don't get it!

This medium size appliance is manufactured with a non- stick cooking surface, a die- cast base, and heat resistant side handles. It looks very nice on your countertop with its black color and glass lid and it can be used to prepare many different foods.

This skillet has met and exceeded my expectations in every category. It takes only two or three minutes to reach the temperature of your choosing and the non- stick surface is so easy to clean, there is really no need to place it in a dishwasher. It is dishwasher safe if you remove the probe, but it cleans so easily, there isn't any need.

Among the many positive qualities with this electric skillet, one of the most important is its depth. Many electric skillets are shallow in design, and this severaly limits their usefulness. But this electric skillet offers plenty of depth, and that means you can use it to heat/cook foods containing liquid without any worries. The liquid won't spill, making this George Foreman Electric Skillet more versatile than most.

Another quality I like with this electric skillet is the glass lid. True, there is the added risk of breakage, but as long as you handle with care, this should not be an issue. The good thing about glass is that you can see the food as it cooks and glass makes for a more attractive appearance. With most stove- top skillets, the lids are solid metal and that means you can't see the food as it cooks. And don't worry that the lid will blow off- there is a small, round opening in the top for ventilation purposes.

George Foreman will always be known for his skill as a professional boxer, but he is eually skilled when it comes to sales of small appliances and this electric skillet is one of his best. It can be used to fry several foods at once or to keep food warm, with high walls to hold foods in place. Cleanup is a breeze and the appliance looks very attractive on most any kitchen counter. Could there be anything bad to say about this appliance? Not that I can see, and this makes it one of the best small appliances I have purchased in a long time.

(More customer reviews)This is our second Oster 12 inch Glass Lid Electric Skillet 3001.The first one still works beautifully and we love it so much that we are ordering another.We use it for practically everything you can imagine cooking in a skillet.We poach salmon, fry bacon, make potroast etc. etc. etc. We love the tip feature it is great for basting eggs, the glass lid so you can keep an eye on things, the even cooking throughout the pan, the max temperature gives you searing capability, you can wipe the pan clean between cooking individual items (for example, cook your bacon, remove, cook your potatotes, remove and wipe the pan with a paper towel then cook your eggs), you can also cook burritoes to a golden brown by (thawing them and cooking them 15 mins on each side on high simmer) and both the simmer and warm are exactly what you get, all of this in one pan and for our family we will have 2 of these fabulous skillets. (More customer reviews)I have owned this for about two weeks and have used it almost everyday.Not only can you use it as you would any other skillet -- I have used it to make baked potatoes; "baked" frozen entrees, and have found recipes for cakes, coffee cakes and even pizza.Can't wait to try all these new ideas.The kitchen doesn't get heated up in the summer, thus keeping the air conditioning from working hard.Some things take a little experimenting, but it all seems to work out in the end.Frozen products need to be watched the first time to make sure they are totally cooked.My only suggestion to West Bend would be to offer a grid to fit in the skillet.Great product -- great price!!

(More customer reviews)I really like this little pan--it's perfect for single cooks, but would be fine for duos too. It has a basic non-stick surface (the smooth type, not T-fal). Be sure to season it well with cooking oil before the first use so food will not stick. Do not use commercial pan sprays--they will eventually buckle this type of finish. Instead, spray or wipe with cooking oil only. Also, use silicon cooking tools; never use metal utensils or you'll damage the non-stick finish.

There are five line-marked settings (i.e., no temperature listings) (l-r) that equate to 1-off, 2-low, 3-medium, 4-high, 5-very high (for preheating only). Preheat on position 5 for a minute or so, then add the food to be cooked and turn the controller down to position 4. The metal pan gets very hot--be careful not to touch the edges or you might burn yourself. The heating loop is visible on the underside of the pan (not embedded as it is in larger electric skillets), so place the pan on a Corningware counter protector or similar heatproof area.

When you want a one-pan breakfast, start by grilling a slice of buttered bread in the pan, then heating some Canadian bacon or pre-cooked sliced bacon. Finally, cook a seasoned whisked or whole egg and add a slice of cheese before assembling your open-faced breakfast sandwich.

The pan is small enough to clean and store very easily. Let it cool after use, rinse with water and wipe dry with a paper towel. The handle is removable, but I leave it assembled and ready to go. All told, the convenience of size is worth the minor design deficiencies.

(More customer reviews)This is definitely a step up in terms of appearance when compared to most skillets in this price range.Performance: the unit heats incredibly fast and evenly.The clip top lid is wonderful, because the edge of the pan has a built-in spout so you can pour of broth, liquid, grease, etc.Just try and do that with an ordinary skillet that doesn't have a locking lid, and doesn't have a pour spout.Temperature control is excellent.The thick rubber feet, and sturdy cast metal frame hold the unit beautifully firmly. 1) The built-in drain on the skillet allow air/steam out of the skillet.I thought that would mean heat and moisture would escape quickly, and this would likely not be ideal for certain cooking styles - I was wrong. I've used this baby a ton, and the little corner spot allows excess heat, but in no way shape or form affects cooking, steaming, boiling, or any style of frying whatever.For me this really didn't matter, because I would only pan fry, fry burger, fry steak, fry eggs, fry bacon, fry pork, fry fry fry and saute.Any type of pan style cooking is performed with ease within the Ham-Beaches coffers.Anyways, my point is this: It's a great piece, works perfectly, has some awesome features, and looks good.Nothing is perfect, but you will love this product, and it clearly will last a long time.Five stars.ADDED:I've removed some thoughts from my initial review, because I didn't know if the pot would do certain things, so let me just say this: "This is easily the finest cooking product I have ever owned".It will do everything, and do it incredibly well.Cleanup is so incredibly easy. I use this product up to 5 times a day.

Presto 06852 16-Inch Electric Skillet with Glass Cover Review

(More customer reviews)The 16" size of this Presto skillet actually ended up saving room in my kitchen because it replaced both an electric griddle and an old 12" electric skillet. This pan can be used for all kinds of cooking: griddling, frying, grilling, braising, roasting, even baking. The sides are high enough to use it as a chicken fryer or for stirfry. I can check how bacon is frying through the glass lid, minimizing spatter, if any. The temperature control is accurate and the pan heats up quickly, unlike my electric stovetop. In fact, you can get a perfect simmer by turning the knob down just till the light goes out. Also nothing sticks to it. The only two things you have to remember are: 1)spray it with Pam or some other cooking spray the first time you use it (just the first time), and 2)to maintain the nonstick coating, never soak it in water for extended periods (you won't need to soak it, it cleans up fast and easy). I really like this skillet and recommend it highly. I bought it in February and have used it regularly ever since.

NOTE: It is now May 2008 and I still use this electric skillet at least once or twice a week. It has held up beautifully and still looks new. I have to tighten the leg screws now and then but I'm not complaining. I would give this pan six stars if I could.
NOTE: It is now October 2008 and we still use this skillet a couple of times per week at least. It takes about 3 minutes to clean after it cools. I can cook just about anything in it. I like its temperature accuracy and the quick control I have over the heat. I use it all the time.
NOTE: It's now February 2009, and two years since I bought this skillet. I still use it at least once a week and it is holding up just fine. Other than tightening the leg/handle screws now and then, it works as well as the day I received it.
NOTE: It's now January 2010 and the skillet is still going strong. No problems with it at all. We use it every weekend for egg & pancake breakfasts with all the trimmings.
