I purchased the Old Mountain Fryer with Lid.I was very happy with your picture. It was exactly what I was looking for. I received my product and the lid does not fit correctly. That made me very unpleased with the product. What I wanted the pan for did not work. The gap between the pan and the lid prevented an even heat distribution. Product was unevenly cooked. Not happy.E.D.Ayala

Lodge Logic Pre-Seasoned Cornbread Wedge Pan Review

I am very glad that I finally picked up this piece!I have several Lodge pieces and they are all very important pieces in my kitchen.

I would like it to be a little bit larger and was also kind of hoping it would come with some basic cooking instructions. But, since I am fairly experienced with cast iron, I didn't have a hard time figuring out the best way to use this pan.

If anybody out there is thinking about getting it, or has already purchased this pan and has yet to master it, here is what I have come up with -

1)Preheat your oven (I use 450F for cornbread).THEN, put a small amount ofbutter (or whatever fat it is that you prefer) in the wedges and kind of brush it around so that it will coat both the sides and the bottom.Put the pan in the preheated oven to get it nice and hot.

2)Meanwhile, have your cornbread batter ready to go.I found that it takes about half of the recipe that I was using in an 8" square Pyrex previously.Take the pan out of the oven (I have one of those Lodge skillet handle potholders that works great).IMMEDIATELY, spoon the batter into the wedges.I have found (through trial & error) that filling each well to about 3/16" from the top works great.Get it right back in the oven. For me, 15-16 minutes baking time seemed to be about perfect.

As long as you heat up the pan and the fat that you use in the pan (I prefer a little tiny bit of butter in each well), it will cook evenly and nothing will stick to the pan.I mean, there isn't even residue in the corners or anything. The pan looked clean when I removed the cornbread.I did this several times with identical results.

One more hint for the day - If you want to additionally season the pan (I did this before the first time I used it), scrub it out and dry it VERY well.Place a thin coat of Crisco over every surface of the pan.Don't slather it on thickly, and be sure that the top surfaces don't have any excess (I gently run a paper towel over the top ridges of the pan). Preheat the oven to 400-425F.Put the pan in the oven upside down, so that there is less surface area on the oven rack, and leave it in the hot oven for at least anhour.Turn off the oven, leaving the pan inside to cool of its own accord. You will have a beautifully seasoned pan that doesn't have the residue that you get using oil.

Lodge Logic L9OG3 Pre-Seasoned 10-1/2-Inch Round Griddle Review

I'm a lousy cook and I love pancakes.I've always had to go to a restaurant to get a decent pankcake because I never figured out how to make them right.

But when I got this Griddle I started turning out perfect pancakes every time! There must be something about iron.I've never had any iron cookware before. And the size is just small enough so it's not too heavy, but the flatness allows me to make a "short stack" of pancakes all at once.

This is the most joy that $12.00 has brough into my life in a long time. And, I'll save a ton of money over the rest of my life not going to restaurants to get pancakes!!

Product Description:
A useful addition to any busy kitchen, this cast-iron griddle pan features a smooth, round cooking surface, which measures 10-1/2 inches in diameter (pan measures 15 by 10-1/2 by 1/2 inches overall), and its slightly raised peripheral edge keeps oil, batter, and other ingredients neatly contained. Breakfast in particular somehow tastes extra hearty when cooked in a cast-iron pan. Use the heavy pan for anything from pancakes, hash browns, or omelets on a Saturday morning to grilled cheese sandwiches for lunch or dessert crepes to serve to guests after dinner. Cast iron loves a campfire, a stovetop, or an oven, and can slow-cook foods without scorching and sear meat at higher temperatures.
The American-based company Lodge has been fine-tuning its construction of rugged, cast-iron cookware for more than a century. No other metal is as long-lasting and works as well for spreading and retaining heat evenly during cooking. Lodge's Logic line of cookware comes factory pre-seasoned with the company's vegetable-oil formula, and is ready to use right out of the box. Even though the pan comes pre-seasoned, applying a little vegetable oil before use helps prevent food from sticking. After cooking, simply scrub the cast iron with a stiff brush and hot water, no soap, and dry immediately. Its looped handle helps ensure easy transport and comes with a hole in the end for convenient hanging storage. Whether used in a kitchen or camp, this virtually indestructible griddle pan should last for generations and carries a lifetime warranty.

Lodge Logic Skillet Spoon Rest Review

Lodge Logic Skillet Spoon Rest

I love cast iron, and this looks great with my black-and-stainless appliances. It's true it's a bit small for some of the spoons I'd want to rest in it, but I use large spoons.

I was worried about a friend of mine coming for a visit this weekend and not having an ashtray for her (to smoke outside, of course). I certainly didn't want her to have to use my dishes for that purpose. Then this came. It's perfect, and I know it'll clean up just fine when she's done with it.

There's nothing like seasoned cast iron in the kitchen. Those who have never owned much cast iron might think you can wash it in soapy water or in the dishwasher, but that ruins the seasoning. If yours has gotten rusty, scour it good with one of those green scouring pads with just water. Next time you bake something in the oven, sit your cast iron in there, too, and let it just bake for a while. Then take it out and, when cool enough to the touch, oil it with vegetable oil, working the oil into it with your fingers, then wipe off any excess. Stick it back into the still-hot oven and leave it there; it will come out black and beautiful, non-stick, and resistant to rusting as long as you dry it well if it gets wet and wipe (or scour) out any food using only water. (Trust me: This will not kill you.) Keep handling it this way, and the more you use it, the more beautiful and easy-care it will be.
